Common Industry Classifications

In the heat pump industry, air source heat pumps are also commonly classified by system configuration:

  • Air-to-Water Heat Pumps – supplying hot or chilled water for underfloor heating, radiators, fan coils and domestic hot water systems.

  • Air-to-Air Heat Pumps – delivering warm or cool air directly for space conditioning applications.

  • Monoblock vs. Split Systems – monoblock units feature integrated design and simplified installation, while split systems offer flexible placement and freeze protection options.

  • Low-Ambient / Cold-Climate Heat Pumps – optimized for stable heating performance in low outdoor temperature conditions.

Features & Benefits

  • High Energy Efficiency

By transferring heat rather than generating it, air source heat pumps significantly reduce operating costs and electricity consumption.

  • Flexible System Integration

Compatible with underfloor heating, fan coil units, radiators, buffer tanks and centralized hot water systems, making them ideal for both new projects and retrofits.

  • Stable and Safe Operation

Advanced control logic and multiple safety protections ensure reliable long-term operation in continuous-duty applications.

  • Easy Maintenance and Scalability

Modular system design simplifies maintenance and allows capacity expansion as project demands grow.

  • Low-Carbon and Environmentally Friendly

Electric-driven operation supports carbon-reduction goals and helps projects comply with energy-saving and environmental regulations.

How Air Source Heat Pumps Work

Air source heat pumps operate on a closed-loop refrigeration cycle that continuously transfers heat from outdoor air to the heating system:

Heat Absorption (Evaporator)

The evaporator extracts low-grade heat energy from ambient air, even in cold conditions.

Heat Upgrade (Compressor)

The compressor raises the temperature and pressure of the refrigerant, converting low-temperature energy into usable heat.

Heat Delivery (Condenser)

The high-temperature refrigerant releases heat to water or air circuits, supplying space heating or hot water.

Pressure Reduction (Expansion Valve)

The refrigerant pressure is reduced, allowing it to absorb heat again and repeat the cycle.

For heating-and-cooling models, the system can reverse the heat transfer direction to provide cooling when required, depending on configuration and application needs.

Provide professional system energy solutions to customers and create value to them.
